Dario was born in Spain and raised in Ireland. Since moving to Halifax, they have worked on a variety of short films, documentaries, music videos, television shows, and commercials. Their film and video work is on Netflix, Crave, CBC Gem, Discovery Channel, BBC, YouTube, Instagram and countless other platforms, helping to bring lesser-heard voices to the forefront of international conversations.

In 2023, four documentaries that they were the cinematographer, colourist and editor on for Netflix Presents Being Black in Canada, were nominated for a Canadian Screen Award.

Alongside their film work, an album that Dario recorded, mixed and mastered -”Lydium” by Behrooz Mihankhah - was nominated for an East Coast Music Award for Best Jazz Recording, 2022.  

Furthermore, two albums that Dario mastered were shortlisted for ECMA’s: Cassie Josephine’s “Only Half Blue” & Terra Spencer’s “Other People’s Lives.” Their mastering work can be heard on Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp, Instagram and YouTube.


Annaka Gale is a producer and director living in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Annaka has been an instrumental part in making many documentaries, commercials, a feature length film (funded in part by the NFB), and various music videos. Alongside this, Annaka has taught filmmaking to marginalized communities and has helped her students join the film industry. Promoting and facilitating diversity behind the camera is an important mission for her.

In 2023, four documentaries that she worked on and produced for Netflix Presents Being Black in Canada were nominated for a Canadian Screen Award and have been screened at select cinemas across Canada and online. She has produced Sam Penner’s short film Cumulus, directed music videos for Braden Lam, Laura Gallant, and others, and is currently in production for her own début short film.

Annaka began her career in journalism, working for various newspapers and magazines in the Publishing and Editorial departments. She holds a postgraduate certificate in Publishing from Toronto Metropolitan University (previously known as Ryerson University), which has given her a deeper understanding of commercial art distribution. She has brought her experiences in analyzing and writing prose to the film and production industry, having written screenplays and managed countless commercial productions. She is currently working on the screenplay for a feature film set in rural Nova Scotia. In her downtime you can find her consuming any kind of media she can get her hands on.
